Dream Haul Has Arrived

Ladies and gentlemen. The wait is over.  The Thomson 787 Dreamliner touched down on British soil for the very first time at 11am, having flown from the Boeing Everett Factory in Seattle. It will be followed with the delivery of a further 3 Thomson 787 aircraft this summer.

The Dreamliner is set to revolutionise air travel and leave holidaymakers more relaxed and refreshed than ever before, with comfort and well-being features on-board reducing the effects of jet-lag. It can also fly much further than similar-sized aircraft and is more environmentally-friendly, using 20% less fuel.

Thomson Airways will fly the state-of-the-art aircraft from London Gatwick, Manchester, East Midlands and Glasgow airports, on long-haul routes to Sanford, Florida and Cancun in Mexico, starting from 8 July 2013.

To coincide with the launch of this superb aircraft, we’ve created a visual history of flight, all the way from the myth of Icarus, the original passenger plane, the aircraft that was used for Queen Elizabeth II’s first flight, through to Concorde, and now the 787. Take a trip through history right here.

to whom it may concern we are really disappointed because we have cancelled our holiday to mexico due to your Dreamliner unsure of when it might be ready also we have been booking holidays with your company for years and feel that we do not get any real deals when we look online they show better discounts to what we get from the shop we have at least 2 holidays a year with Thomson, we are going back to goa this December and feel that we have been robbed by paying an extra £100 for cancellation and transfer fees due to your uncertainty of when the Dreamliner was going to be active we are starting to look at other companies to see if we can a better deal also the plane that travels to Egypt is to cramped its like cattle in such a small space

I would love to be flying on dreamliner, just not able to as you have stopped Florida on winter service, such a shame that your actually letting your loyal winter customers down. I’d better save up for S’14 im guessing

Hi, we are booked (ref: …) on Tom194 to Cancun on the 5th July that at the time of booking was sold to us off the back of the Dreamliner. My wife’s disabled and not the best flyer hence this was the clincher for us to go for that holiday. It seems we may not be on that now?
Would be really grateful for any info you could give us…….
    Many thanks, Graham.

Its good to see the plane has finally got of the ground, we were booked to fly on the Dream liner on the May 1st but it was not to be. Flight was changed to a 767 and still we had a great holiday. Having only been back a few weeks we have booked a December holiday and this time fingers crossed we will be flying on the Dream Liner.

Well perhaps now you will ge rid o the old 767s that are falling apart. Just got back from Mexico on what should have been a Dreamliner trip only to be put on an old 767 which was in a state ! When the Dreamliner was canceled I said we would be put on some old planes and that was the case with broken toilets ! Nice one Thomson !

When are they going to get rid of the rest of the junk 757 and 767s and replace with newer aircraft for the short medium routes?

Hi Adam, We don’t have a seating plan online but the configuration for Premium is 2-3-2 and for Economy is 3-3-3. I hope this helps.

I’m flying to Palma Majorca from Gatwick on the 10th August returning on the 24th. On the seating plan its shows a 3-3-3 configuration for both flights. I’ve been advised that we will be travelling on the Dreamliner although another part of the Thomson organisation say that the Dreamliner is for long haul only and we will be travelling on a 737-800 (which doesn’t support the 3-3-3 configuration.) Can you shed any light on this please ?

We are booked to go to Mexico on Wednesday the 5th June from East Midlands airport. We know we are not now travelling on the Dreamliner. We are booked in premium class. One of the advantages of flying on the Dreamliner was the new food menu. Will we still get this? Hopefully we will not be getting one of the old planes! My husband had said he did not want to travel long haul again and I only got round him by showing him the Dreamliner with all its extra space etc and then booking premium.

Hi Chris, The new menu and in flight entertainment has been launched across our entire fleet of long haul aircrafts, so you’ll still be receiving the same service.
