Every year, the Cannes film festival attracts the highest concentration of A-listers to the glamorous South of France – everyone from Blake Lively and Cara Delevingne to George Clooney and Johnny Depp. While it’s hard not to bump into a celeb, if you need a little help, here’s our pick of the most popular hangouts…

If seeing all the super-glam dresses makes you desperate to shop, but you don’t quite have Amal Clooney’s £50k budget, there are plenty of affordable options in Cannes. Rue d’Antibes is a great place for high street brands like chic French label Blanc Bleu, and you’re sure to spot A-listers ducking into high-end stores like Bathroom Graffiti. The key to a celeb-style Cannes daytime look is to keep it simple and elegant like the Parisians – so basically, anything black with dark shades will do. When it comes to beauty products, the markets are a great place for picking up oils, organic creams and lavender-based soaps, and as we know, going natural and organic is all the rage these days.

There’s a range of high-end eateries where you can spot your favourite Hollywood stars and enjoy an exquisite meal at the same time. Two of Cannes’ Michelin-starred restaurants are located in Hotel Martinez where all the stars stay, but you don’t have to book a pricey hotel room to dine there. Treat yourself to a fancy meal, and you can tuck into Lobster Thermidor along with the likes of Victoria Beckham and Eva Longoria. Other A-list faves include 3.14 The Beach, La Voile Rouge and Le Baoli which is a trendy beachfront Asian eatery. Vesuvio is the place to be if you love Italian food, and La Mère Besson is where you can try traditional Provencal dishes.

When it comes to sneaking your way into an entourage or becoming BFFs with Taylor Swift – getting immersed in Cannes’ nightlife is the way to go. There’s no shortage of star power at the film festival after-parties, which spill out into various clubs, restaurants and beach bars. Le Gotha and pop-up clubs Bungalow 8 and La Plage are favourites, while Nikki Beach, Le Baoli and the VIP room host some great after parties. Follow the pumping beats and you’re bound to come across an A-list soiree.

They’re not just glued to the red carpet – celebs like to get out and about too. It’s hard to resist exploring such a stunning region that boasts both grandiose hotels and slick marinas, as well as quaint cobbled streets and 11th-century buildings. Big directors like Michael Moore and Woody Allen are known to love a wander around the town, while the marina is a great place for spotting A-listers park their huge, luxurious yachts – perhaps you can even blag an invite onto one. Basically, when you’re out and about in Cannes – it’s hard not to feel like you’re on a film set.
