What’s new for cruise in summer 2018?

We’ve got some exciting new announcements for Thomson Cruises for summer 2018, including a new addition to the fleet, new itineraries, and some special cruise offers. Here’s what to expect from your Thomson Cruises holiday for next year…

New ship

We’re so pleased to welcome our newest and biggest ship TUI Explorer to the fleet. TUI Explorer has more entertainment venues, bars and restaurants than any of our other ships, and holds an impressive 962 cabins – 430 of which have balconies. The ship is All Inclusive as standard, with 10 restaurants, including tapas, pan-Asian and fine dining, and 10 bars to choose from. Other benefits include a cinema, minigolf, an ice-cream cart, a Gamer Zone and the largest spa in our fleet. Read more about TUI Explorer on our blog.

New homeport

Last year we announced that Newcastle would be a new homeport for summer 2017. It means you don’t have to worry about flying to an international destination to board your ship, and you can start your cruise holiday even earlier.

Well now we’ve added Southampton to the bill for summer 2018, meaning we’ve got both the north and south of the UK covered. From May to September 2018, you can sail from Newcastle on 9 itineraries ranging from seven to 14 nights, and in September and October 2018 you’ll be able to board at Southampton for four itineraries, ranging from eight to 14 nights.

New ports of calls

We’ve added a whopping 14 new ports of call to our summer 2018 itineraries. You can admire a 16th-century fortress and the Sistine Chapel in Savona, Italy. Or go for a strong along Avenue Princesse Grace in Monaco, the world’s most expensive street.

Ancona, Italy, offers up mornings spent exploring museums and marvelling at Roman ruins, while Skiathos Town in Skiathos has Blue Flag beaches to relax on, as well as the chance to walk to the Monastery of Panagia Evangelistria.

Take a look at our latest brochure for more details on all of our ports of call.

New itineraries

We’ve got 10 new itineraries to announce, taking you to a huge range of brand new destinations. Here are just a few of our favourites.

Baltic Capitals, sailing on TUI Discovery from Newcastle on 23rd June 2018, takes you to Sweden, Estonia, Russia, Finland, Latvia, Germany, Denmark and Norway.

If you want to tick a new experience off your list, the Seeking the Northern Lights itinerary is for you. You’ll sail on TUI Discovery from Southampton on 4th October 2018, chasing the Aurora Borealis in Bergen, Flam, Hellesylt, Geiranger, Molde, Tromso, Honningsvag, Harstad, Leknes and Stavanger – all of which are in Norway.

Or how about adults-only Sail Three Seas on Thomson Celebration? Sailing from Dubvronik in Croatia between 10th May and 11th October 2018, you’ll visit Malta, Italy, Kefalonia, Greece and Montenegro.

New cruise and stay options

If you’re looking for a Cruise & Stay holiday, we’re about to make the decision even harder with six new hotels to choose from for summer 2018.

Majorca offers up AluaSoul Mallorca, with five pools and a beachfront setting, Holiday Village Majorca, a family-friendly resort which includes swim-up rooms, and AluaSoul Alcudia Bay, which has been newly refurbished for 2017.

Our three new hotels in Corfu include Restia Suites, a boutique hideaway with VIP pool suites available, Corfu Palace, which is only five minutes from the old town, and Corfu Imperial Grecotel Exclusive Resort, which is on a private peninsula.

Special offers

We’re offering a free All Inclusive drinks upgrade onboard Thomson Celebration and Thomson Dream on sailings from November 2017 to October 2018. Make sure you book early and grab this exclusive offer, which is worth £199 per person, per week.

We have just cruised for the first time on Thomson tui discovery and what a fantastic time we had now ready to book our next cruise with Thomson again.

Absolutely loved the layout of the tui discovery ship especially the Atrium and staircase my question is how can we see the inside of the tui explorer ship on your website as we are hoping to book our next cruise and would love to get an insight of the ship

Is there any more news regarding a new name for the Cruise Division or is it going to be called TUI instead of Thomson?

With these larger ships are there any plans for cruises to and in Asia HK Vietnam area?

    • Charlotte Baker

Hi David, When we transition to TUI our Cruises will be known as TUI Cruises, so for example Thomson Dream will become TUI Dream – we currently have no sailings to these destinations however, they could possibly be introduced for future sailings ^Charlotte
