Whether you’re an ‘80s baby, or just a big fan of shoulder pads, neon, and Netflix’s Stranger Things, we’ve got the cruise for you. This September, climb aboard Marella Discovery to join our first ever themed sailing. Electric Sunsets – The 80s Cruise Weekender brings together big name DJs, pool parties, classic ‘80s movies, as well as stops in two iconic European cities. Read on to find out the details…

    Itinerary: Days one and two

This adults-only cruise is one long party weekend. You’ll set sail from Newcastle on the 1st of September on Marella Discovery, heading for Amsterdam. After spending Sunday enjoying the city however you please – we recommend beers and bicycle rides – it’s back onboard to catch a DJ set by Trevor Nelson.

    Itinerary: Days three and four

On Monday, Marella Discovery will dock in Bruges. Taste world-famous Belgian chocolate and waffles, and explore everything from the Halle and its belfry building in Markt, Bruges’ main square, to the Groeninge Museum, which sits alongside the Dijver Canal. But don’t put your leg warmers away just yet. That evening, party with Radio 2’s Sara Cox. Dig out your finest animal print leggings and neon headbands, and expect to hear all of your favourite Eighties artists, from Madonna to MJ. Plus, you’ll be treated to a live performance by 80’s legend Carol Decker from T’Pau. You’ll then return to the UK on Tuesday morning, docking in Southampton at 8am.

    What else can I expect?

On Sunday and Monday night, dive into the Ministry Of Sound Pool Party. Or, head to the Guilty Pleasures Party to enjoy a mix of pop, rock, hip hop, and R&B jams. You’ll need to book these onboard, as they have limited spaces. You’ll also be able to catch screenings of ‘80s films, watch tribute acts, and have a go at some karaoke, too. Plus, you have access to all of Marella Discovery’s facilities, from the climbing wall to the swimming pools.

What else do I need to know?

You’ll be going All Inclusive on the cruise, so you can refuel at five different eateries, and enjoy a range of alcoholic and soft drinks. Excursions in Amsterdam and Bruges, coach transfers, à la carte dining, and using the spa facilities onboard are also available at an extra charge.
